Abstract The stability of coal pillar dams is influenced by cyclic fluctuations salty water from underground reservoir. Subjected to long-term drying-wetting cycles in solution, the microstructure and surface topography can be significantly changed which results deterioration mechanical properties. To investigate damage mechanism subjected uniaxial compression test prepared samples were conducted. law under solution with different concentrations was obtained. show that unconfined strength elastic modulus logarithmic decrease cycle numbers solutions concentrations. higher concentration is, more severe. After granular particles on become powdered number holes cracks increases. A constitutive model for mine developed based experimental results. This well describe deformation characteristics compaction stage failure stage. research provide guidance construction safety operation
